This is my latest piece. I have to say, I had a ball painting this one. It feels like, after nearly six years of painting again, a large piece of the puzzle has clicked into place. I was more confident working on this one and I think that comes through in the work.
I wanted to show the intensity of the bird’s focus on the flowers. The Blue-faced Honeyeater is quite a character – busy and creative. His intensity is only fleeting and then he is off to find food elsewhere – often in strange places like insects found under the eaves of your house or by running his beak along palm fronds to find the spiders hiding there.

This piece is petite – 20 x20cms
